The purpose of a registered agent is to accept court documents in the event that your company is sued. Every entity registered in Louisiana and every foreign corporation must have a registered agent. This agent does not need to be an attorney, they just need a physical address in Louisiana. You can even serve as your own registered agent.
 
Foreign corporations are business which are not incorporated in Louisiana but want to do business here. In order to do so, they must register with the Secretary of State (A $125 fee if done online). If you’re a foreign corporation, and you don’t have anyone to list as your registered agent, this service is for you.
